GYS has recreation soccer programs for every aged boy and girl, starting with the DynaMites at Under-4 all the way through high school aged kids. Recreational Soccer does not require trying out, but merely signing up. Every player who signs up within the registration period is guaranteed a spot on a team . Late registrants are NOT guaranteed placement on a specific team. If this is a player's first time with GYS, a copy of their birth certificate (or passport) must accompany the registration form along with full payment. In an effort to open soccer to all those interested, GYS offers a limited number of registration scholarships for those in need of financial assistance. Please contact the office for details.
DynaMites play at Bryan Park on Sunday s at Bryan Park in a specially designed, developmentally appropriate program. During the registration process, you can choose either the 3:00 or 4:00 time slot. Kids are placed on “teams” and assigned to fields. Parent volunteers help with the practices and are encouraged to participate. GYS provides lesson plans, which are based on the one-child-one-ball method and consist of fun activities that encourage touches on the ball. The sessions include stretching and warm-up drills, a weekly skill, water breaks and 3 vs. 3 games. Area collegiate teams are also invited through the season to help with the kids. GYS staff coaches are also available to work with parent volunteers. The registration fee includes a t-shirt and 6 weeks of instruction. Cost for program is $85.
Children in the U7 and U8 age group play games at Bryan Park on Saturdays and/or Sundays. They are assigned to teams based on school district and zip code to allow for easier off-site practices and carpooling. Coaches of these teams find practice fields convenient to their team and train a maximum of three hours a week. GYS provides uniforms. The cost to register is $105.
Children in the U9 and above age groups, play games at Leonard and Jaycee Parks. They practice off-site at fields convenient to their teams (coaches’ decision). The cost to register is $105

What’s New This Year
GYS Technical Director of Recreation Marc Nicholls will be heavily involved in the recreation program this year. Included in some of Coach Nicholls’ plans are weekly training and education sessions for the kids and coaches, age group coordinators, and increased involvement from GYS staff coaches.
